Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Bara bin Azib narrates that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) instructed us to visit the sick and to accompany the funeral procession.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Saeed that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Visit the sick and accompany the funeral procession; this will remind you of the Hereafter.

It is narrated from Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: A Muslim has a right over another Muslim that when he falls ill, he should visit him, and when he dies, he should attend his funeral.

Hazrat Jabir narrates that we asked, "O Messenger of Allah! How do you begin your morning?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There is no good for a person if he does not begin his morning in a state of fasting and does not visit the sick."

It is narrated from Hazrat Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) asked the companions: "Who among you attended a funeral today?" Hazrat Umar replied, "I did." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked, "Who among you visited a sick person?" Hazrat Umar replied, "I did." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked, "Who among you gave charity?" Hazrat Umar replied, "I did." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked, "Who among you began the morning in a state of fasting?" Hazrat Umar replied, "I did." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "It has become obligatory, it has become obligatory (Paradise)."

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: A Muslim has a right over another Muslim that he should attend his funeral and visit him when he is ill.
