Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

It is narrated from Hazrat Amr bin Maimoon that Hazrat Umar bin Khattab fixed one qafeez and one dirham on every jarib (of land) for the people of Iraq.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Majliz that Hazrat Umar bin Khattab had fixed eight dirhams per jarib for the date orchards.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Aun Muhammad bin Ubaidullah Al-Thaqafi that Hazrat Umar bin Khattab fixed for the people of Iraq, on each jarib of land that could be irrigated, whether the land was cultivated or uncultivated, one dirham and one qafiz of food; and for the owners of orchards, on each jarib of land, ten dirhams and ten qafiz of food; and for the owners of vineyards, on each jarib of land, ten dirhams and one qafiz of food; and for fresh dates, on each jarib of land, five dirhams and five qafiz of food. And for trees that did not bear anything, he made them subject to the land. And among the people, he fixed for the wealthy forty-eight dirhams of tax, for those of moderate means twenty-four dirhams, and for the poor twelve dirhams of tax.

It is narrated from Hazrat Muhammad bin Ubaidullah that Hazrat Umar Farooq appointed him over the people of Iraq, then mentioned similar to the hadith of Ibn Masher.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Majliz that Hazrat Umar sent Hazrat Uthman bin Hunaif to measure the area of land. Hazrat Uthman bin Hunaif fixed ten dirhams per jarib for land with grapevines, eight dirhams per jarib for land with date palms, and two dirhams per jarib for land with barley. He fixed a tax of twenty-four dirhams per year on each person and suspended the tax for women and children.

It is narrated from Hazrat Hakam that Hazrat Umar sent Hazrat Uthman bin Hunaif to Iraq, so he fixed one dirham per jarib for every land where water reached, whether it was cultivated or uncultivated, whether it had wheat or barley. And he fixed ten dirhams per jarib for land with grapes, and five dirhams per jarib for land with fresh dates.

It is narrated from Hazrat Aban bin Taghlib that Hazrat Umar fixed (the rate) on dates: one dirham on large dates and one dirham on Farsi dates (small dates) as well.
