Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

11003 - Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Muhammad ibn (Bashr) (1) narrated to us, he said: (Sufyan) (2) narrated to us from al-Mughira ibn al-Nu'man from Abdullah (3) ibn al-Aqna' al-Bahili from al-Ahnaf ibn Qays who said: I was sitting in a (mosque) (4) in Medina, when a man approached—no (circle) (5) would see him except that they fled from him ⦗387⦘ until he reached the circle in which I was, so he sat firmly and they fled. (I said) (6): Who are you? He said: Abu Dharr, the companion of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He said: (So I said) (7): Why do people flee from you? He said: I forbid them from (hoarding treasures) (8). He said: I said: Our stipends have increased and risen (do you fear) (9) for us because of them? He said: (As for) (10) today, no, but soon they will become the price of your religion (so leave them) (11) and them (12).

It is narrated from Hazrat Masruq that Hazrat Abdullah said: By Him besides whom there is no deity, Allah Almighty will not give general punishment to the person who accumulates wealth in this way, rather his skin will be spread out and every dirham and dinar will be placed on his skin so that no dirham touches another dirham and no dinar touches another dinar.

Hazrat Abu Wa'il narrates that I heard from Hazrat Abdullah, who, in the explanation of Allah Almighty's command { سَیُطَوَّقُوْنَ مَا بَخِلُوْا بِہٖ یَوْمَ الْقِیٰمَۃِ }, said that on the Day of Resurrection, a serpent will be made into a collar and placed around their neck. It will have two black spots on its mouth, it will hiss and say, "I am that very wealth of yours in which you used to be miserly."

11006 - Abu Bakr ibn Ayyash narrated to us from Abu Ishaq from Abu Wa'il who said: I heard Abdullah say regarding the saying of Allah Almighty: "They will be made to wear what they withheld on the Day of Resurrection" [آل عمران: ١٨٠], he said: (They will be made to wear) (1) (a serpent) (2) with (two fangs) (3) in its mouth (it bites him) (4) saying: I am your wealth which you withheld (from) (5) (6).

It is narrated from Hazrat Jabir that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: There is no person who owns camels, cows, or goats and does not fulfill their due right, but on the Day of Resurrection he will be made to lie down on a flat and barren plain, where every hoofed animal will trample him with its hooves and every horned animal will gore him with its horns. On that day, there will be no animal without horns or with broken horns. The companions asked, "O Messenger of Allah! What is their due right?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: To lend a camel to someone for mating, to lend its bucket, to lend it to fulfill someone’s need, to milk the she-camel at the water place (so that the needy may also drink), to keep its milk away from water, and to ride it in the way of Allah Almighty.

Hazrat Abu Dharr narrates that I heard from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), who said: I heard from my Beloved, who said: The right of the camel is to give its charity. Whoever accumulates dinars or dirhams, or gathers silver whether in the form of a nugget or solid, and does not make it available for the creditor, nor spends it in the way of Allah, then it will become a branding iron for him, and on the Day of Judgment he will be branded with it.

Ibrahim, in the explanation of Allah Almighty’s statement { سَیُطَوَّقُوْنَ مَا بَخِلُوْا بِہٖ یَوْمَ الْقِیٰمَۃِ }, says that it will be a collar of fire.

Hazrat Masruq, in the explanation of Allah Almighty’s command { سَیُطَوَّقُوْنَ مَا بَخِلُوْا بِہٖ یَوْمَ الْقِیٰمَۃِ }, says that it refers to the person whom Allah has blessed with the bounty of wealth, but he did not give his relative their due right. So that wealth will be turned into a snake for him, which will be made into a collar for him. Then he will say, “What relation is there between you and me?” (i.e., why have you clung to me?) The snake will say to him, “I am your wealth.”
