Giving Zakah to a Wealthy Person Unknowingly
Hadith 10845
١٠٨٤٥ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا معاذ بن (معاذ) (١) (٢) عن أشعث عن الحسن ⦗٣٤١⦘ في الرجل (يدفع) (٣) (٤) زكاته إلى فقير، ثم يتبين له أنه غني قال: أجزأ عنه.
Hasan was asked: If a person gives zakat to a poor man and later finds out that he was actually wealthy (what is the ruling?), he replied: It is sufficient on his part.
Hadith 10846
١٠٨٤٦ - حدثنا ابن فضيل عن إسماعيل عن حماد عن إبراهيم في الرجل يعطي (من) (١) (زكاته) (٢) الغني وهو لا يعلم قال: لا يجزئه.
Ibrahim was asked: If a person gives zakat to a wealthy person without knowing, then? He replied: This is not sufficient. (It will have to be given again).
