Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Salim and Hazrat Ibn Hanfiyyah say that the statement of Allah { وَآتُوا حَقَّہُ یَوْمَ حَصَادِہِ } has been abrogated by ‘ushr and nisf ‘ushr.

Ibrahim says that this verse has been abrogated by 'ushr and nisf 'ushr.

Hazrat Abu Alia states that the Companions (Sahabah) used to give to people in addition to (obligatory) charities.

Hazrat Jabir bin Zaid says that the verse { وَآتُوا حَقَّہُ یَوْمَ حَصَادِہِ } of the Holy Quran refers to Zakat.

Hazrat Tawus narrates from his father that what is meant by this is Zakat.

Hazrat Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) narrates that { وَآتُوا حَقَّہُ یَوْمَ حَصَادِہِ } (after the revelation of this verse) if any seeker or beggar came besides those entitled to charity and zakat, the Companions would also give to him.

Hazrat Ata says that Allah Almighty’s statement { وَآتُوا حَقَّہُ یَوْمَ حَصَادِہِ } means: Whoever comes to you on that day, give him what you possess, and this is apart from Zakat.

Hazrat Mujahid says that Allah Almighty’s command { وَآتُوا حَقَّہُ یَوْمَ حَصَادِہِ } is: When you reap the harvest and the needy come to you, then give something for them as well; and when you gather (the crops, etc.), then give something for them; and when you heap it up, then give something for them; and when you clean it and begin to measure it, then give something (such as husks, etc.) for them. And when you have measured it and know how much it is, then pay its zakat. And when you pluck dates from the date palm, then leave some unripe and ripe dates for them, and when you begin to measure them, then also give something for them; and when its weight is known, then pay its zakat. (10580 M) It is narrated from Hazrat Dhahhak in the commentary of this verse that the calculation of its zakat will be on the day the crop is measured.

Hazrat Suddi says that this verse is both Madinan and Makkan. It has been abrogated by 'Ushr and Nisf 'Ushr. The narrator says that I asked, "Who has declared it abrogated?" He replied, "The esteemed jurists have."

Hazrat Hammad and Ibrahim say that the verse of the Holy Qur'an { وَآتُوا حَقَّہُ یَوْمَ حَصَادِہِ } states that they give whatever is available to them, even if it is little.

Ibrahim says that they give whatever is available.

Hasan says that this verse has been abrogated by zakat.

Dahhak says that Zakat has abrogated all forms of charity mentioned in the Holy Qur'an.

Hazrat Atiyyah says that this verse was abrogated by 'ushr and nisf 'ushr.

Hazrat Dhahhak says that the Word of Allah { وَآتُوا حَقَّہُ یَوْمَ حَصَادِہِ } states that what is meant is that when he measures, its zakat is due.

Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) says that the verse of the Holy Qur'an { وَآتُوا حَقَّہُ یَوْمَ حَصَادِہِ } has been abrogated by 'ushr' and 'nisf ush'r'.
