Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Mak'hool states that every nation will give Sadaqat al-Fitr according to the Madinan Sa'.

Hazrat Mujahid says that it should be given from the same food with which you feed your family and dependents.

It is narrated from Hazrat Khalid bin Abu Bakr that Hazrat Salim says that on that day, Sadaqat al-Fitr will be given before breakfast according to the sa‘ (measure) prevalent in the market. And only dates will be given as Sadaqat al-Fitr.

Hasan says that every community will give Sadaqat al-Fitr according to its own sa’.

Hazrat Asma states that the sadaqat al-fitr will be given from this mudd and saa‘ which was commonly used (circulating) among them.

Hazrat Ata says that if you give the mudd of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), then that is also sufficient for you. And if you give the mudd with which you provide food for your family, then that is also sufficient for you. (Both mudds are equal.)

Hazrat Ata says that I prefer that you give Sadaqat al-Fitr with the same measure with which you take and give (food) to others.
