Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Ibrahim says that there is no harm if a slave gives compensation to his companions (master), and whatever remains in excess from it, he should give as charity.

Hasan says that a slave will give so much charity (zakat) from his wealth that it does not harm him.

A person asked Hazrat Saeed bin Jubair, "I am a slave but I have wealth; can I give charity?" He replied, "Yes, three dirhams or four dirhams. (Not more than this)."

Hazrat Dawood states that I asked Hazrat Saeed bin Al-Musayyib how much charity a slave should give from his wealth? He replied: One sa’ or something similar (not more than this).

Ibrahim says that a slave will give charity of less than one dirham.

The father of Abdullah bin Nafi’ was a servant of Banu Hashim. He asked Hazrat Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) whether he could give charity. He replied: Yes, even if it is a dirham or a piece of bread.

Hazrat Salim says that a slave will attain (Allah's) closeness according to the wealth he has the ability and power to give (by giving it in charity).

Hazrat Aamir and Hazrat Khaitama were asked whether a slave can also give charity. Both gentlemen replied that he should not give more than one dirham in charity.

Imam Zuhri says that a slave will give in charity something that is not very valuable.

Hazrat Umair, who was the slave of Abi Al-Lahm, narrates that I was a slave and I used to give charity. I asked the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) whether I could give charity while my master forbids me? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whatever charity you give, its reward is for both of you.

It is narrated from Hazrat Hakam that Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: A slave will give one dirham in charity.

Ibrahim narrates that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, used to accept the invitation of a slave.

It is narrated from Hazrat Anas that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to accept the invitation of a slave.
