Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Khursha bin Har says that I saw Hazrat Umar, during the month of Rajab, striking people's hands until they put their hands into the dishes to eat. He used to say: "Eat food; this is the month which the people of the Age of Ignorance used to venerate."

Hazrat Zaid bin Aslam narrates that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, was asked about fasting in the month of Rajab. He replied, "Why do you not fast in Sha'ban?"

Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that do not make it a habit to fast on Mondays, Thursdays, or in the month of Rajab.

When Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) saw people being particular about fasting in Rajab, he would regard it as disliked.
