Hadith 9735
٩٧٣٥ - حدثنا وكيع عن ابن أبي ليلى عن عطاء قال مرة عن ابن عباس (١).
Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with both of them) and Hazrat Sha'bi say that if one was performing ablution (wudu) for any purpose other than prayer, then he must make up (qada) for that fast. If he was performing ablution for prayer, then making up is not obligatory upon him.
Hadith 9737
٩٧٣٧ - حدثنا عبد الأعلى عن هشام عن الحسن أنه كان يقول: إذا (مضمض) (١) وهو صائم فدخل حلقه شيء لم يتعمده فليس عليه شيء، يتم صومه.
Hasan used to say that if someone rinses their mouth while fasting and water unintentionally goes down their throat, then nothing is required of him. He will complete his fast.
Hadith 9738
٩٧٣٨ - حدثنا غندر عن شعبة (عن عبد الخالق) (١) عن حماد (في) (٢) الصائم (تمضمض) (٣) فدخل الماء (٤) حلقه، (قال) (٥): إن كان وضوء واجب فليس عليه شيء، وإن كان مضمص (من) (٦) غيره فإنه يعيد.
Hazrat Hammad says that if, while rinsing the mouth, water enters the throat of a fasting person, then if ablution was obligatory, nothing is required of him. If he was rinsing the mouth for any other reason, he must repeat the fast.
Hadith 9739
٩٧٣٩ - حدثنا (مخلد) (١) (عن) (٢) ابن جريج قال إنسان لعطاء: (استنثرت) (٣) ⦗٥٢⦘ (فدخل) (٤) الماء حلقي؟ (٥) (قال: لا) (٦) بأس (٧) لم تملك.
Hazrat Ibn Jurayj says that a man asked Hazrat Ata that while I was cleaning my nose, water went down my throat; is there any harm in this? He replied, there is no harm in this, you do not have control over it.
Hadith 9740
٩٧٤٠ - حدثنا وكيع عن أبي حنيفة عن حماد عن إبراهيم في الصائم يتوضأ فيدخل (الماء) (١) حلقه من وضوئه قال: إن كان ذاكرًا لصومه فعليه القضاء وإن كان ناسيًا فلا شيء عليه.
Ibrahim, regarding the fasting person into whose throat water from ablution enters, states that if he remembers his fast, he will make it up, and if he does not remember his fast, then nothing is required of him.
Hadith 9741
٩٧٤١ - حدثنا يزيد بن هارون عن حبيب عن عصرو بن هرم قال: سئل جابر ابن زيد عن رجل كان صائمًا فتوضأ فسبقه الماء إلى حلقه (أ) (١) يفطر قال: لا، وليتم صيامه.
Hazrat Amr bin Harm narrates that Hazrat Jabir bin Zaid was asked: If a person is fasting and while performing ablution, water enters his throat, will his fast be broken? He replied: No, he should complete his fast.
