Recitation in Dhuhr and Asr Prayers
Hadith 9032
٩٠٣٢ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: ثنا وكيع قال: ثنا كثير بن زيد عن المطلب بن عبد اللَّه ابن حنطب عن زيد بن ثابت أنه سئل عن القراءة في الظهر والعصر فقال: كان رسول اللَّه ﷺ يطيل القيام ويحرك شفتيه (١).
Hazrat Zaid bin Thabit was asked about the recitation in Zuhr and Asr, so he said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to stand for a long time in Zuhr and Asr and would move his lips.
Hadith 9033
٩٠٣٣ - حدثنا وكيع قال: ثنا الأعمش عن عمارة عن (أبي) (١) معمر قال: قلنا لخباب بأي شيء كنتم تعرفون قراءة رسول اللَّه ﷺ في الظهر والعصر قال: باضطراب لحيته (٢).
Hazrat Abu Ma'mar says that we asked Hazrat Khabbab how you would estimate the recitation of the Prophet (peace be upon him) in Zuhr and Asr prayers? He replied, by the movement of his blessed beard.
Hadith 9034
٩٠٣٤ - حدثنا وكيع قال: ثنا سفيان عن سلمة بن كهيل عن الحسن (العرني) (١) عن ابن عباس قال: (كان) (٢) رسول اللَّه ﷺ يقرأ في الظهر والعصر (٣).
Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with both of them) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to recite (Qur'an) in Zuhr and Asr prayers.
Hadith 9035
٩٠٣٥ - حدثنا وكيع قال: ثنا إسرائيل عن أبي إسحاق عن سعيد بن عياض الثمالي قال: ما صليت صلاة إلا قرأت فيها.
Hazrat Saeed bin Iyaz Thamali says that I recite (Qira'at) in every prayer.
