Ruling on Reciting the Quran with a Beautiful Voice
Hadith 8977
٨٩٧٧ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: ثنا وكيع قال: ثنا الأعمش عن طلحة بن مصرف عن عبد الرحمن بن عوسجة عن البراء بن عازب قال: قال رسول اللَّه ﷺ: "زينوا القرآن بأصواتكم" (١).
It is narrated from Hazrat Bara bin Azib that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Beautify the Qur'an with your voices.
Hadith 8978
٨٩٧٨ - حدثنا (سفيان) (١) (بن) (٢) عيينة عن عمرو عن ابن أبي مليكة (عن) (٣) عبد اللَّه ابن (أبي) (٤) (نهيك) (٥) عن سعد قال: قال رسول اللَّه ﷺ: "ليس منا من لم يتغن بالقرآن" (٦).
Hazrat Saad narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "He is not one of us who does not recite the Qur'an in a beautiful voice (while neglecting the Qur'an)."
Hadith 8979
٨٩٧٩ - [حدثنا وكيع قال: حدثنا سعيد بن حسان المخزومي عن ابن أبي مليكة عن عبيد اللَّه بن أبي نهيك عن سعد بن أبي وقاص قال: قال رسول اللَّه ﷺ: "ليس منا من لم يتغن بالقرآن"] (١) (يعني) (٢) يستغني به (٣).
Hazrat Saad narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "He is not one of us who does not recite the Qur'an in a beautiful voice (while neglecting the Qur'an)."
Hadith 8980
٨٩٨٠ - حدثنا وكيع قال: ثنا (عبد اللَّه) (١) بن سعيد بن أبي هند قال: سمعت أبا سلمة بن عبد الرحمن يقول: قال رسول اللَّه ﷺ: "ما أذن اللَّه لشيء كإذنه لنبي يتغنى بالقرآن يجهر (بالقراءة) (٢) " (٣).
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Salamah bin Abdur Rahman that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Allah Almighty does not listen to anyone’s voice as attentively as He listens to the voice of that prophet who recites the Holy Qur’an in a beautiful and loud voice.
Hadith 8981
٨٩٨١ - حدثنا محمد بن بشر قال: ثنا محمد بن عمرو عن أبي سلمة عن أبي هريرة عن النبي ﷺ بنحو حديث وكيع عن عبد اللَّه بن سعيد (١).
It is also narrated in the same way from Hazrat Abu Hurairah.
Hadith 8982
٨٩٨٢ - حدثنا وكيع قال: ثنا مسعر عن عبد الكريم (١) أبي أمية عن طاوس قال: سئل رسول اللَّه ﷺ أي الناس أحسن قراءة قال: "الذي إذا (رأيته) (٢) يقرأ (رأيت) (٣) أنه يخشى اللَّه" (٤).
Hazrat Tawus says that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked: Who is the best reciter of the Qur'an? He replied: The one whom, when you see him reciting the Qur'an, you feel that he fears Allah.
Hadith 8983
٨٩٨٣ - حدثنا وكيع (عن) (١) الأعمش قال: صليت خلف إبراهيم فما سمعته يمدد ولا يرجع ولا يحسن صوته.
Hazrat A'mash says that I prayed behind Ibrahim; I did not see him elongating his voice, repeating, or deliberately beautifying it.
