الرجل يصلي وشعره معقوص
Ruling on Braiding Hair for Prayer
Hadith 8257
٨٢٥٧ - حدثنا أبو أسامة عن شعبة عن (المخول) (١) عن (أبي (سعيد) (٢) عن) (٣) أبي رافع قال: مر بي النبي ﷺ وأنا ساجد قد عقصت شعري فحله أو قال: فنهاني عنه (٤).
Hazrat Abu Rafi' says that I was praying with my hair braided in plaits. I was in the state of prostration when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by me; he untied my hair, or he forbade me from doing so.
Hadith 8258
٨٢٥٨ - حدثنا ابن مهدي عن سفيان عن أبي هاشم عن (مجاهد) (١) عن عمر بن الخطاب وحذيفة في الرجل يصلي وهو عاقص شعره فذكر (٢) حديثا غير أن معناه أنهما كرهاه (٣).
Hazrat Umar bin Khattab and Hazrat Hudhaifah (may Allah be pleased with them) considered it disliked for a person to pray while having his hair tied in plaits.
Hadith 8259
٨٢٥٩ - حدثنا ابن مهدي عن زهير بن محمد عن زيد بن أسلم عن أبان بن عثمان قال: رأى عثمان رجلًا يصلي وقد عقد شعره فقال: يا ابن أخي مثل الذي يصلي وقد عقص شعره مثل الذي يصلي وهو مكتوف (١).
Hazrat Aban bin Uthman narrates that Hazrat Uthman saw a man who was praying with his hair braided. He said to him that the example of a person who prays with his hair tied is like that of a person who performs prayer with his hands tied.
Hadith 8260
٨٢٦٠ - حدثنا ابن نمير عن شريك عن أبي إسحاق قال: كان ابن عباس إذا صلى وقع شعره على الأرض (١).
Hazrat Abu Ishaq says that when Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) used to pray, his hair would touch the ground.
Hadith 8261
٨٢٦١ - حدثنا أبو معاوية عن الأعمش عن زيد بن وهب عن عبد اللَّه أنه دخل المسجد فإذا فيه رجل يصلي عاقصا شعره فلما انصرف قال عبد اللَّه: إذا صليت فلا تعقص شعرك، فإن شعرك يسجد معك، ولك بكل شعرة (أجر) (١) فقال الرجل: إني أخاف أن (يترب) (٢) فقال: تتريبه خير لك (٣).
Hazrat Zaid bin Wahb narrates that Hazrat Abdullah entered the mosque and saw a man performing prayer with his hair tied up. When he finished the prayer, Hazrat Abdullah said, "When you pray, do not tie your hair in braids, because your hair also prostrates with you, and you receive the reward for the prostration of every hair." A man said, "I am afraid that my hair might get scattered." Hazrat Abdullah replied, "Their scattering is better than tying them."
Hadith 8262
٨٢٦٢ - حدثنا ابن مهدي عن سفيان عن أبي فروة قال: كان عبد الرحمن بن أبي ليلى يضفر شعره فإذا صلى نشره.
Hazrat Abu Farwah narrates that Hazrat Abdur Rahman used to braid his hair, but when he would pray, he would untie them.
Hadith 8263
٨٢٦٣ - حدثنا ابن فضيل عن مغيرة عن إبراهيم أنه كان يكره عقد الرجل شعره في الصلاة.
Ibrahim considered it disliked to braid the hair during prayer.
Hadith 8264
٨٢٦٤ - حدثنا وكيع عن سفيان عن أبي إسحاق عن الحارث عن علي قال: لا يصلي الرجل وهو عاقص شعره (١).
Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said that do not perform prayer with your hair braided into plaits.
Hadith 8265
٨٢٦٥ - حدثنا ابن فضيل عن ليث عن طاوس عن ابن عباس عن النبي ﷺ أنه قال: "أمرت أن أسجد على سبعة أعظم، ولا أكلف شعرًا ولا ثوبًا" (١).
It is narrated from Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I have been commanded to prostrate on seven bones, and I should not gather the hair or the clothes.
Hadith 8266
٨٢٦٦ - حدثنا شبابة عن شعبة عن عمرو عن طاوس عن ابن عباس قال: أمر نبيكم ﷺ أن يسجد على سبعة (١) وأمر أن لا يكف شعرًا ولا ثوبًا (٢).
Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) narrates that your Prophet, the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), commanded that prostration should be performed on seven bones, and he commanded that neither hair nor clothes should be tied.
Hadith 8267
٨٢٦٧ - حدثنا أبو معاوية وابن إدريس عن الأعمش عن أبي وائل عن عبد اللَّه قال: كنا (لا) (١) نتوضأ من موطئ، ولا نكف شعرًا ولا ثوبًا في الصلاة (٢).
Hazrat Abdullah says that we did not perform ablution from the place where we put our feet, and we did not wrap our hair and clothes during prayer.
