Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Ibn Aun reports that I asked Muhammad, "If an imam stands in one corner of the mosque and leads the people in prayer, how is that?" He replied, "I do not see any harm in it."

Hazrat Qarra narrates that Hazrat Abu Alaa used to lead us in prayer by standing in a corner of the mosque in order to stand in the shade.

Hazrat Mughira bin Ziyad Mosuli says that I saw Hazrat Ata standing under a canopy in Masjid al-Haram leading the prayer, and people were standing here and there. He said to the people, "I am an old man and Makkah is a dry and hot place. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was on a journey when it rained, and he led the people in prayer while they were mounted on their rides, and Hazrat Bilal was conveying the Takbeer to them."

Hazrat Abdullah bin Shaqiq narrates that sometimes Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) would lead us in prayer in a corner of the mosque and would not stand among the people.

Hazrat Abu Uroobah says that I saw Hasan leading the prayer in a corner.
