Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) says that I do not feel any difference whether urine and feces are on my clothes or they are troubling me during prayer.

Hazrat Umar says: "Do not confront two filthy things—urine and feces—during prayer."

It is narrated similarly through another chain.

Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with both of them) says that none of you should offer prayer in such a state that he is resisting the urge to urinate or defecate.

Hazrat Saeed bin Jubair says that for me, holding back urine during prayer and having it on my clothes are the same.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Umamah that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: None of you should come to pray while restraining urine or stool, until he has relieved himself.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: None of you should stand for prayer in such a state that he feels the need to urinate or defecate.

It is narrated from Hazrat Yahya bin Ja'dah that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "One who is holding back urine should not go near the prayer."

Hazrat Ibn Sirin considered it undesirable to withhold urine if there was no fear of missing the prayer.

Hazrat Urwah narrates that Hazrat Abdullah bin Arqam set out with his companions with the intention of performing Umrah. They gave the call to prayer (adhan) and the iqamah, then he said to one of his companions, "Go ahead and lead the prayer, because I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: 'When the time for prayer comes and any of you feels the need to relieve himself, then he should first relieve himself.'"

Hazrat Nafi' was asked if a person feels wind in his stomach, can he perform prayer? He replied that he should not perform prayer while feeling wind in his stomach.

Hazrat Qasim bin Muhammad narrates that a nephew of Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) came to her. When he was about to go to the mosque, Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said to him, "Sit down. I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say that none of you should pray while food is present or when he is resisting the urge to urinate or defecate."

Hazrat Ikrimah says that I would prefer to relieve myself in my turban rather than pray while confronting them.

Hazrat Bakr says that I prefer to urinate, perform istinja, and then pray, rather than resisting the urge to urinate or defecate during prayer.
