Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Abu Huraira narrates that I saw the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) offering prayer in his shoes, and when he came outside, he was wearing his shoes.

Hazrat Amr bin Shu'aib's grandfather narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) offered prayer both barefoot and while wearing shoes.

Hazrat Ibn Abi Aws's grandfather narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) offered prayer in shoes.

It is narrated similarly through another chain of transmission.

Hazrat Amr bin Harith narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) offered prayer in shoes.

A Bedouin says that I saw the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, praying in shoes made of cowhide.

Hazrat Ibn Juraij says that I asked Hazrat Ata whether a person can pray in his shoes? He replied, yes, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) offered prayer in his shoes.

Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Abi Laila narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) offered prayer in his shoes.

Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Abi Laila narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed prayer in his shoes, so the people also started praying with their shoes on. When he took off his shoes, the people also took off their shoes. After finishing the prayer, he said that whoever wishes to pray in his shoes may pray in his shoes, and whoever wishes to take off his shoes and pray may take off his shoes and pray.

Hazrat Abu Muslima says that I asked Hazrat Anas whether a person can pray while wearing shoes. He replied that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) performed prayer while wearing shoes.

Ibrahim narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) removed his shoes during prayer, so the people also removed their shoes. Then he put them on, and after that, he was not seen removing them again.

Hazrat Abdullah used to perform prayers while wearing shoes.

Hazrat Usman bin Hakeem says that Hazrat Abu Ja'far and Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) bin Hussain used to perform prayer wearing shoes.

Muhammad says that I asked Hazrat Shurayh whether I could pray in my shoes. He declared it disliked.

Hazrat Ibn Abi Khalid says that I saw Hazrat Aswad praying while wearing shoes, and Hazrat Abu Amr Shaibani used to beat people for taking off their shoes during prayer.

The Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) offered prayer wearing a shoe made of leather.

Hazrat Yazid bin Abi Ziyad says that I saw Ibrahim leading people in prayer while wearing shoes.

Hazrat Urwah used to perform prayer while wearing shoes.

Hazrat Dahhak states that Hazrat Umar used to be strict with people regarding the matter of removing shoes during prayer.

Hazrat Yazid, the freed slave of Salamah, says that I saw Hazrat Salamah praying while wearing shoes.

Ibrahim used to lead the prayer wearing shoes.

Hazrat Abu Hamzah says that I saw Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) performing prayer while wearing shoes.

Hazrat Hasan bin Ubaidullah says that Ibrahim considered it undesirable to take off shoes during prayer and said that he feared that a needy person might come to the mosque and take their shoes.

Hazrat Abu Ja'far used to perform prayers while wearing shoes.

Hazrat Iyas Hanafi says that I saw Hazrat Usman praying while wearing shoes.

Hazrat Ubaidullah bin Umar says that I have seen Hazrat Qasim and Hazrat Salim performing prayer while wearing shoes.

Hazrat Abu Miqdam says that I have seen Hazrat Saeed bin Musayyib, Hazrat Ata bin Yasar, Hazrat Salim, and Hazrat Qasim praying while wearing shoes.

Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Khuzair narrates that I saw Hazrat Mujahid performing prayer while wearing shoes.

Hazrat Uqbah bin Abi Salih says that I was with Ibrahim, he took off his shoes, and when the muezzin gave the call to prayer, he put them on.

Hazrat Yaqub bin Majma' states that the first person to pray in shoes was Uwaim bin Sa'idah.

Hazrat Abu Majliz used to lead prayer while wearing his shoes.

Hazrat Jabir narrates that Hazrat Abu Ja'far would take off his shoes, and when he intended to pray, he would put them on.

Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) removed his shoes during prayer, so the people also removed their shoes. When he completed the prayer, he asked the people, "Why did you remove your shoes?" They replied, "We saw you remove your shoes, so we also removed ours." He said, "Jibreel came to me and informed me that there was impurity on my shoes. When any of you comes to pray, he should turn his shoes over and look at them; if there is impurity on them, he should wipe it off with the ground and pray in them."

It is narrated from Hasan that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Look at your shoes; if there is any impurity on them, then clean it, and if there is not, then pray in them.

Hazrat Abdullah narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) offered prayer in his shoes.
