Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Muraq ‘Ajli says that I asked Hazrat Ibn ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) whether he performed the Duha (forenoon) prayer. He replied, "No." I asked, "Did Hazrat ‘Umar perform the Duha prayer?" He replied, "No." I asked, "Did Hazrat Abu Bakr?" He replied, "No." I asked, "Did the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) perform the Duha prayer?" He replied, "I think that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) also did not perform this prayer."

Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that after accepting Islam, I never performed the Duha (forenoon) prayer except after performing Tawaf of the Ka'bah.

Hazrat Hakam bin A'raj narrates that I asked Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) about the reality of the Duha (forenoon) prayer, at that time he was reclining against the blessed chamber of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). He replied that it is an innovation, and a very good innovation.

Hazrat Abu Ubaidah says that among those individuals who visited Hazrat Abdullah bin Masood (may Allah be pleased with him), none of them informed me that he ever performed the Duha (forenoon) prayer.

Hazrat Masruq says that we used to recite the Qur'an in the mosque, and sometimes people would continue reciting the Qur'an even after Hazrat Ibn Mas'ud had left his gathering. Then we would get up and perform the Duha (forenoon) prayer. When Hazrat Ibn Mas'ud came to know of this, he said, "O servants of Allah! Why do you make Allah's servants responsible for things that Allah has not made obligatory upon them? If you must perform this prayer, then offer it in your rooms."

Hazrat Tamimi says that I asked Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) about the Duha (forenoon) prayer, so he replied, "Is there any prayer for Duha as well?"

Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not use to perform the Duha prayer, and he would abandon many actions only so that they would not be taken as an obligatory part of the religion.

Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not use to perform the Duha prayer, whereas I perform the Duha prayer.

Hazrat Alqamah did not use to perform the Duha (forenoon) prayer.

Hazrat Hakam bin A'raj says that I asked Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) about the Duha (forenoon) prayer, so he replied that it is an innovation (bid'ah).

Hazrat Saeed bin Jubair says that I leave the Duha (forenoon) prayer even though I like this prayer very much.
