Regarding Prayer in Bayt al-Maqdis and the Mosque of Kufa
Hadith 7741
٧٧٤١ - حدثنا وكيع عن أبي العميس عن عمرو بن مرة عن أبي صالح الحنفي عن أخيه (طليق) (١) بن قيس، قال: قال أبو ذر: لأن أصلي على رملة حمراء أحب إلي من أن أصلي في بيت المقدس (٢).
Hazrat Abu Dharr says that I prefer to pray on a red mound rather than to pray in Bayt al-Maqdis.
Hadith 7742
٧٧٤٢ - حدثنا وكيع عن مسعر عن واصل عن أبي وائل عن حذيفة، قال: لو سرت حتى لا يكون بيني وبين بيت المقدس إلا فرسخ أو (فرسخان) (١) ما أتيته أو ما أحببت أن آتيه (٢).
Hazrat Hudhaifah (may Allah be pleased with him) says that if I were to travel and there remained a distance of one or two farsakhs between me and Bayt al-Maqdis, I would not like to go there.
Hadith 7743
٧٧٤٣ - حدثنا وكيع عن سفيان عن أبي المقدام عن (حبة) (١) قال: جاء رجل إلى علي فقال: إني اشتريت بعيرًا وتجهزت أريد بيت المقدس، فقال: بع بعيرك وصل في هذا المسجد -يعني مسجد الكوفة- فما من مسجد بعد المسجد الحرام ومسجد المدينة أحب إلي منه، ولقد نقص مما أسس خمسمائة ذراع يعني مسجد الكوفة (٢).
Habbah narrates that a man came to Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) and said, "I have bought a camel and I want to ride it to Bayt al-Maqdis; is this correct?" He replied, "Sell your camel and perform prayer in the mosque of Kufa. After Masjid al-Haram and Masjid al-Nabawi, there is no mosque more beloved to me than this. This mosque is five hundred cubits less than its original size."
Hadith 7744
٧٧٤٤ - حدثنا إسحاق بن منصور ثنا إسرائيل عن إبراهيم بن مهاجر عن إبراهيم عن الأسود قال: لقيني كعب ببيت المقدس فقال: من أين؟، فقلت: من مسجد الكوفة فقال: لأن أكون جئت من حيث جئت أحب إلي من أن أتصدق بألف دينار أضع كل دينار منها في يد مسكين، ثم حلف أنه أوسط الأرض كقعر (الطست) (١).
Hazrat Aswad narrates that Hazrat Ka'b met me in Bayt al-Maqdis. He asked me, "Where have you come from?" I replied, "From the mosque of Kufa." He said, "To be in the place from where you have come is more beloved to me than having a thousand dinars, each of which I would place in the hand of a poor person as charity." Then he swore an oath and said, "That place is like the center of a platter in the middle of the earth."
Hadith 7745
٧٧٤٥ - [حدثنا يحيى بن يعلى عن عبد الملك بن عمير عن قزعة عن أبي سعيد قال: قال رسول اللَّه ﷺ: "لا تشدوا الرحال إلا إلى ثلاثة مساجد [(مسجد) (١) الحرام ومسجد المدينة ومسجد بيت المقدس"] (٢) (٣).
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Saeed that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Do not undertake a journey to any mosque except for three mosques: Masjid al-Haram, the mosque of Madinah, and the mosque of Bayt al-Maqdis."
Hadith 7746
٧٧٤٦ - حدثنا عبد الأعلى عن معمر عن الزهري عن سعيد عن أبي هريرة عن النبي ﷺ قال: "لا تشدوا الرحال إلا إلى ثلاثة مساجد] (١) المسجد الحرام ومسجدي ⦗١٢٠⦘ هذا والمسجد الأقصى" (٢).
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Do not undertake a journey to any mosque except for three mosques: Al-Masjid Al-Haram, my mosque, and Al-Masjid Al-Aqsa."
Hadith 7747
٧٧٤٧ - حدثنا ابن عيينة عن عمرو عن طلق عن قزعة قال: سألت (ابن) (١) عمر آتي الطور قال: دع الطور ولا تأتها، وقال: لا تشدوا الرحال إلا إلى ثلاثة مساجد (٢).
Hazrat Qaza'ah says that I said to Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them), "I want to go to Mount Tur." He replied, "Leave Tur and do not go towards it. Do not undertake a journey to any mosque except for three mosques."
Hadith 7748
٧٧٤٨ - حدثنا يحيى بن يمان عن سفيان عن أبي سنان عن عبد اللَّه بن أبي الهذيل قال: لا تشدوا الرحال إلا إلى البيت العتيق.
Hazrat Abdullah bin Abi Huzail says that no journey should be undertaken except towards Bait Atiq, that is, the Kaaba.
Hadith 7749
٧٧٤٩ - حدثنا ابن فضيل عن الحسن بن (عبيد اللَّه) (١) عن إبراهيم، قال: لا تشدوا الرحال إلا إلى ثلاثة مساجد.
Ibrahim says that journey should not be undertaken to any mosque except for three mosques.
