Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: When you come for prayer, do not come running, but come with calmness and dignity. Whatever part of the prayer you catch, perform it, and whatever you miss, complete it later.

Hazrat Abu Dharr says that when you come for prayer, come at your usual pace; perform whatever part of the prayer you catch, and make up what you miss.

Hazrat Abu Huraira narrates that when the Iqamah for prayer is called, come walking with calmness and dignity; whatever part of the prayer you catch, perform it, and whatever you miss, complete it later.

Hazrat Abdullah says: Come to prayer walking, keep your steps close together, and remember Allah.

Hazrat Abdullah says that while coming for prayer, we used to take small steps.

Hazrat Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that while I was walking briskly towards the mosque with Hazrat Zaid bin Thabit, he forbade me from doing so.

Hazrat Sufyan bin Ziyad narrates that I was walking quickly towards the mosque when Hazrat Zubair bin Al-Awwam saw me and said, "Walk at a moderate pace, because you are in the state of prayer at this time. Whenever you take a step, Allah Almighty raises your rank by one degree because of it and forgives one of your sins."

Hazrat Bahina says that I heard the call for Iqamah, so I started walking quickly. As I passed by Hazrat Ali bin Hussain (may Allah be pleased with him), he pulled my garment and said, "Go to the prayer walking in your usual manner."

Hazrat Yahya bin Ya'la (may Allah be pleased with him) says that I and one of my companions returned from jihad, and the time for prayer arrived. Upon this, Hazrat Usman bin Aswad said: "Go and perform the prayer, walk at your usual pace, whatever part of the prayer you catch with the Imam, perform it, and whatever you miss, make it up later."

Hazrat Muhammad bin Zaid bin Khalidah says that I was going for prayer with Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them). He was walking so slowly that I thought if an ant walked with him, it would surpass him.

Hazrat Thabit narrates that Hazrat Anas held my hand and slowly started walking towards the prayer. Then he said that Hazrat Zaid bin Thabit used to do the same so that the number of steps would increase.
