Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Zar narrates that I saw Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Auf and Hazrat Ubayy bin Ka'b used to offer two rak'ahs after the Maghrib adhan.

Hazrat Humaid says that Hazrat Anas was asked about the two rak'ahs before Maghrib, so he replied that I saw my companions; after the adhan of Maghrib, they used to quickly perform two rak'ahs.

Hazrat Abu Fazarah says that I asked Hazrat Anas about the two rak'ahs before Maghrib, so he replied that we used to quickly offer two rak'ahs after the Maghrib adhan.

Hazrat Hakam says that I saw Ibn Abi Layla performing two rak'ahs before Maghrib.

Hazrat Ibn Abi Laila narrates that I saw the companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to offer prayer at every call to prayer (adhan).

It is narrated from Hazrat Abdullah bin Mughaffal that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: There is prayer between every two calls to prayer, there is prayer between every two calls to prayer, there is prayer between every two calls to prayer, for whoever wishes.

It is narrated similarly through another chain.

Hazrat Tamim bin Salam or Salam bin Tamim says that I asked Hasan about the two rak'ahs before Maghrib, what do you say about them? He replied that they are very good and beautiful rak'ahs for whomsoever Allah wills.

Hazrat Saeed bin Musayyib says that I have not seen any jurist except Hazrat Saad bin Abi Waqqas offering two rak'ahs before Maghrib.

Hazrat Tawus says that I asked Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) about the two rak'ahs before Maghrib, and he did not forbid them.
