Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Shu’bah, the freed slave of Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them), narrates that I prayed with Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them). During the prayer, I cracked my fingers. When I completed the prayer, he scolded me and said, “Do you crack your fingers during the prayer?”

Ibrahim considered cracking the fingers during prayer to be disliked.

Hazrat Ata considered cracking the fingers during prayer to be disliked (makruh).

Hazrat Saeed bin Jubair says that five things make the prayer incomplete: stretching, looking here and there, turning over pebbles, having distracting thoughts, and cracking the fingers.

Ibrahim and Hazrat Mujahid considered cracking the fingers during prayer to be disliked.
