Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Muhammad did not see any harm in a person leading the prayer while reciting from the Mushaf.

Hazrat Qasim narrates that a slave of Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) used to lead the prayer and recite by looking at the Mushaf.

Hazrat Abu Bakr bin Abi Mulaykah narrates that Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) appointed a slave as a Mubarrir, who used to lead the prayer and recite from the Mushaf while looking at it.

Hazrat Ibn Sirin narrates that Ummul Mu'minin Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), daughter of Talha, used to instruct a slave or someone else to lead her in prayer during Ramadan by reciting from the Mushaf (written copy of the Qur'an) while looking at it.

Hazrat Hakam was asked whether a person can lead the prayer in Ramadan while reciting from the Mushaf. He replied that there is no harm in it.

Hasan and Muhammad say that there is no harm in it.

Hazrat Ata says that there is no harm in it.

Hasan says that if a person who recites by heart is not available, then one who recites by looking at the Mushaf may be appointed as the imam.

Hazrat Thabit Banani says that Hazrat Anas used to lead the prayer, and his slave would stand behind him holding the Mushaf; when he would forget at any place, the slave would prompt him.
