Hazrat Abdullah says that the part of the prayer you join with the Imam should be considered the last part of your prayer.

Hazrat Abdullah bin Masood (may Allah be pleased with him) says that the prayer performed with the Imam should be considered as the last part of your prayer.

Hazrat Nafi' narrates that Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) used to consider the prayer joined with the Imam as the last part of the prayer.

Hazrat Nafi' narrates that Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) would not recite (Qira'at) in the prayer which he caught with the Imam, and in the part which he stood up to make up, he would recite (Qira'at).

Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: Recite (Qur'an) while making up (missed) prayers.

Ibrahim says: Recite (Qur'an) while making up (missed prayers).

Hazrat Ibn Aun narrates that I asked Hazrat Mujahid about the person who misses two rak‘ahs with the imam, so what should he do? He replied: Make your initial prayer the last part of your prayer.

Hazrat Abu Qilabah, regarding the person who misses a part of the prayer and then stands up to make up for it, says that he should make the remaining prayer his initial prayer, and if he knows what recitation the Imam did, then he should recite the same.

Hazrat Amr bin Dinar says that the prayer which has been missed should be made up in the same manner as it was missed.

Hazrat Sha'bi and Hazrat Ibn Sirin, regarding the person who misses some part of the prayer with the Imam and is making it up later, say that he should also make up his recitation.

Hazrat Amr narrates that Hazrat Ubaid bin Umair missed one rak'ah of the Maghrib prayer. I heard that he was reciting Surah Al-Lail in it.

Hazrat A'mash says that Ibrahim Nakha'i used to recite (Qur'an) in the rak'ah missed from the Imam.
