Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Awam bin Hamzah says that I asked Hazrat Abu Usman whether Qunoot should be recited before or after Ruku? He replied, "Do you have any evidence for this?" He said that Hazrat Abu Bakr, Hazrat Umar, and Hazrat Usman used to do it in this manner.

Hazrat Abu Raja says that I offered the Fajr prayer with Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) in the mosque of Basra; he recited the Du'a Qunoot before bowing (ruku).

It is narrated similarly through another chain.

Hazrat Muhammad bin Yahya bin Haban says that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recited the Qunoot supplication after bowing (ruku) in the morning prayer for forty days.

Hazrat Ibn Ma'qil narrates that Hazrat Umar, Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), and Hazrat Abu Musa recited the Qunoot supplication before bowing (ruku) in the Fajr prayer.

Hazrat Abu Juham narrates that Hazrat Bara used to recite the Du'a Qunoot before bowing (ruku).

Hazrat Zaid bin Wahb narrates that Hazrat Umar recited the Qunoot supplication before bowing (ruku) in the Fajr prayer.

Hazrat Abu Uthman Nahdi says that I offered the Fajr prayer behind Hazrat Umar; he recited the Du'a Qunoot in it before bowing (ruku).

Hazrat Abu Abdur Rahman Salami says that Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) used to recite the Du'a Qunoot before bowing (ruku) in the Fajr prayer.

Hazrat Ubaid bin Umair says that I offered the Fajr prayer behind Hazrat Umar. He recited the Du'a Qunoot in it before the bowing (ruku).

It is narrated similarly through another chain of transmission.

Hazrat Naseer bin Zaalooq narrates that I offered prayer behind Hazrat Rabee’ bin Khuthaim; he recited the Du’a-e-Qunoot in it before going into ruku.

Hazrat Nu’man bin Qais says that I offered the Fajr prayer behind Hazrat Ubaidah; he recited the Du’a-e-Qunoot in it before the bowing (ruku’).

Hazrat Ibn Abi Laila used to recite the Du'a Qunoot before bowing (ruku) in the Fajr prayer.

Hazrat Tawus used to make many supplications before bowing (ruku) in the Fajr prayer.
