Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

It is narrated from Hasan that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Pray four rak'ahs of prayer at night, pray this prayer even if it is two rak'ahs. For the people of the house who make the prayer of Tahajjud their routine, an announcer announces for them: O people of the house! Rise for your prayer."

It is narrated from Hasan that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: May Allah have mercy on the person who performs the Tahajjud prayer and then wakes his wife so that she may perform the Tahajjud prayer. May Allah have mercy on the woman who performs the Tahajjud prayer and then wakes her husband so that he may perform the Tahajjud prayer.

Hasan says: Perform the Tahajjud prayer, even if it is only for the amount of time it takes to milk a goat.

Muhammad considered it preferable that a person should not abandon the Tahajjud prayer, even if it is only for the amount of time it takes to milk a goat.

Hazrat Abdullah says that the reward of the night prayer is greater than the reward of the day prayer, just as the reward of giving charity secretly is greater than giving charity openly.

Hazrat Zubair bin Abdullah bin Rahimah's grandmother narrates that Hazrat Usman always used to fast and stand in prayer at night. However, in the early part of the night, he would lie down for a little while.

Hazrat Abdullah narrates that a man was mentioned before the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) who slept through the night until morning. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said that Satan urinated in his ears.

Hazrat Abu Huraira and Hazrat Abu Saeed state that when a man wakes his wife at night and both perform Tahajjud prayer, they are both recorded among the men who remember Allah much and the women who remember Allah much.
