Hadith 6639
٦٦٣٩ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا إسماعيل بن إبراهيم عن خالد (١) الحذاء ⦗٤١٨⦘ عن عبد الرحمن بن سعيد بن وهب عن أبيه أن عليًّا رأى قومًا يصلون (و) (٢) قد سدلوا فقال: كأنهم اليهود (خرجوا) (٣) من (فهرهم) (٤) (٥).
Hazrat Saeed bin Wahb narrates that Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) saw some people performing prayer with their clothes trailing. He said, "They look as if they are returning from celebrating a Jewish festival."
Hadith 6640
٦٦٤٠ - حدثنا ابن إدريس عن الحسن بن (عبيد) (١) اللَّه عن إبراهيم أنه كره أن (يسدل) (٢) ثوبه في الصلاة.
Ibrahim has considered wearing the garment in a sadl manner during prayer as disliked. (Ibn al-Athir in al-Nihayah (2/355) states that sadl means to wear the garment in such a way that one puts his hands inside its inner part and performs bowing and prostration in this manner. According to another opinion, sadl means to place the middle part of the lower garment on the head and let its edges hang down on the right and left instead of placing them on the shoulders.)
Hadith 6641
٦٦٤١ - حدثنا ابن إدريس عن ليث عن مجاهد قال: كره السدل.
Hazrat Mujahid says that letting the garment hang loose in prayer is disliked (makruh).
Hadith 6642
٦٦٤٢ - حدثنا وكيع قال: حدثنا فضيل (بن) (١) غزوان (٢) عن نافع عن ابن عمر أنه كره (السدل) (٣) في الصلاة مخالفة (لليهود) (٤) وقال: إنهم يسدلون (٥).
Hazrat Nafi' reports that Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) considered sadl (letting the garment hang loosely) in prayer to be disliked due to opposition to the Jews, and said that the Jews let their garments hang during worship.
Hadith 6643
٦٦٤٣ - حدثنا ابن علية (و) (١) هشيم (عن ليث عن مجاهد) (٢) أنه كان يكره ⦗٤١٩⦘ (السدل) (٣) في الصلاة.
Hazrat Mujahid has declared Sadl in prayer to be disliked (makruh).
Hadith 6644
٦٦٤٤ - حدثنا وكيع قال: حدثنا سفيان عن مغيرة عن إبراهيم.
Ibrahim and Hazrat Mujahid have considered "sadl" in prayer to be disliked. Hazrat Waki' says that we also regard it as disliked.
Hadith 6647
٦٦٤٧ - حدثنا يحيى بن آدم قال: حدثنا حماد بن سلمة عن عسل بن (١) سفيان عن عطاء عن أبي هريرة أن النبي ﷺ نهى عن السدل في الصلاة (٢).
Hazrat Abu Huraira narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade Sadl in prayer.
