Those who say to pray Dhuhr early and ‘Asr late on cloudy days
Hadith 6434
٦٤٣٤ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: (حدثنا) (١) (عبدة) (٢) بن سليمان عن إسماعيل عن حماد عن إبراهيم عن الأسود عن عمر قال: إذا كان يوم الغيم فعجّلوا (العصر وأخّروا الظهر) (٣) (٤).
Hazrat Umar says that on cloudy days, offer Zuhr early and Asr late.
Hadith 6435
٦٤٣٥ - حدثنا وكيع (قال) (١) (حدثنا) (٢) حسن بن صالح عن عبد العزيز بن رفيع قال: قال رسول اللَّه ﷺ: "عجلوا صلاة النهار في يوم الغيم وأخروا المغرب" (٣).
It is narrated from Hazrat Abdul Aziz bin Rafee that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: On cloudy days, perform the daytime prayers early and delay the Maghrib prayer.
Hadith 6436
٦٤٣٦ - حدثنا وكيع قال: حدثنا قيس (عن) (١) أبي حصين عن (حزام) (٢) بن جابر قال: سمعت ابن مسعود يقول: إذا كان يوم الغيم فعجلوا الظهر وأخروا العصر وأخروا المغرب (٣).
Hazrat Abdullah bin Masood (may Allah be pleased with him) says that on the day when there are clouds, offer Zuhr early and Asr late, and on that day, offer Maghrib late as well.
Hadith 6437
٦٤٣٧ - حدثنا وكيع قال: حدثنا الأوزاعي عن يحيى بن أبي كثير عن أبي قلابة ⦗٣٧٠⦘ عن أبي المهاجر عن بريدة الأسلمي قال: كنا معه في غزاة فقال: سمعت النبي ﷺ يقول: "بكّروا (بالصلاة) (١) في (اليوم) (٢) الغيم، فإنه من فاتته صلاة العصر حبط عمله" (٣).
Hazrat Buraidah Aslami narrates that we were with the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in a battle. He said: On a cloudy day, offer the prayer early, because whoever misses the Asr prayer, his deeds are wasted.
Hadith 6438
٦٤٣٨ - حدثنا يزيد بن هارون قال: أخبرنا (هشام) (١) الدستوائي (عن يحيى) (٢) عن أبي قلابة عن أبي المليح عن بريدة عن النبي ﷺ بنحو منه (٣).
It is narrated similarly through another chain.
Hadith 6439
٦٤٣٩ - حدثنا وكيع قال: (حدثنا) (١) يونس بن أبي إسحاق عن بكر (بن ماعز عن الربيع) (٢) بن خثيم أنه قال لمؤذنه: إذا كان يوم الغيم (فأغسق) (٣) بالمغرب.
Hazrat Rabi’ bin Khuthaym said to his muezzin that on the day when it is cloudy, delay the Maghrib prayer.
Hadith 6440
٦٤٤٠ - حدثنا أبو أسامة (عن هشام) (١) عن الحسن قال: كان يعجبه في يوم الغيم أن يؤخر الظهر ويعجل العصر (٢).
Hasan says that on cloudy days, it is good to delay the Zuhr prayer and to offer the Maghrib prayer early.
Hadith 6441
٦٤٤١ - حدثنا (ابن) (١) يمان عن سفيان عن الأعمش عن أبي صالح قال: يعجل العصر يوم الغيم ويؤخر المغرب.
Hazrat Abu Salih says that on cloudy days, the Asr prayer should be offered early and the Maghrib prayer should be offered late.
Hadith 6442
٦٤٤٢ - [حدثنا (١) ابن يمان عن سفيان عن أبي حمزة عن إبراهيم قال: يعجل العصر ويؤخر المغرب] (٢).
Ibrahim says that on cloudy days, the Asr prayer should be offered early and the Maghrib prayer should be offered late.
Hadith 6443
٦٤٤٣ - حدثنا يحيى بن يمان عن سفيان عن خالد عن الحسن وابن سيرين بمثله (١).
It is narrated similarly through another chain.
