Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Nafi' says that on rainy nights, our leaders would delay the Maghrib prayer and offer the Isha prayer early, before the disappearance of the twilight. Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) would also pray with them in this manner and did not consider there to be any harm in it. Hazrat Ubaidullah says that I also saw Hazrat Qasim and Hazrat Salim praying with them in the same way.

Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Harmalah narrates that I saw Hazrat Saeed bin Musayyib offering prayer with the Imams even when they combined Maghrib and Isha during a rainy night.

Hazrat Hisham bin Urwah states that Hazrat Aban bin Uthman used to combine the Maghrib and Isha prayers on rainy nights, and I have seen Hazrat Urwah bin Zubair, Saeed bin Musayyib, Abu Bakr bin Abdur Rahman, and Abu Salamah bin Abdur Rahman praying with him. None of these individuals objected to this practice.

Hazrat Abu Mawdood Abdul Aziz bin Abi Sulaiman says that I offered Maghrib and Isha prayers with Abu Bakr bin Muhammad; on a rainy night, he combined both prayers.

Hazrat Nafi' narrates that Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) used to pray with Marwan, and when Marwan would combine Maghrib and Isha prayers on a rainy night, he would also pray with him.
