Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Masrooq says that a slave-girl will pray in the same manner as she goes out.

Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) and Hazrat Shurayh used to say that a slave-girl will pray in the same manner as she goes out.

Ibrahim says that an umm walad slave woman can pray without a headscarf, even if she is over thirty years old.

Ibrahim says that a slave woman is not required to wear a dupatta, whether she is old or not.

Hazrat Mujahid says that a slave woman is not required to wear a dupatta.

Hazrat Masrooq says that a slave-girl will pray in the same manner as she goes out.

Hazrat Harith says that a slave-girl will pray in the same manner as she goes out.

Hazrat Shurayh says that a slave-girl will pray in the same manner as she goes out.

Hazrat Aamir says that a slave girl is not required to wear a dupatta, even if she was born to her master.

It is narrated from Hazrat Ata that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The slave woman has removed the skin of her head, that is, hijab is not obligatory upon her.

Hazrat Umar saw a slave woman observing veil, so he beat her and said, "Do not imitate free women."

Hazrat Umar says that the slave girl has scraped the skin of her head off against the wall.

It is narrated similarly through another chain of transmission.

Hazrat Umar saw a bondwoman veiling, so he beat her and said, "Do not imitate free women."

Hazrat Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that a slave woman came to Hazrat Umar bin Khattab, whom he recognized because of some Muhajir or Ansari. She had a large sheet on her, with which she had veiled herself. Hazrat Umar asked her, "Have you been freed?" She replied, "No." He then asked, "Then why are you wearing this sheet?" Take it off your head; the sheet is for the heads of free believing women." At this, the slave woman started making excuses. So Hazrat Umar struck her with his whip on her head and removed her sheet.

Hazrat Abu Hubaira asked Hazrat Sha'bi, "How will a slave girl perform prayer?" He replied, "She will pray in the same manner as she emerges."

Hazrat Abu Qilabah narrates that Hazrat Umar bin Khattab, during his caliphate, would not allow any slave woman to wear a dupatta and would say that the veil is for free women, so that they may not be harmed.
