Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Mujahid says that if a woman does not cover her hair while praying, her prayer will not be accepted.

It is narrated from Hasan that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When a girl reaches puberty, her prayer is not valid without a head covering.

Qaboos’s father narrates that he sent a woman to Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her). That woman saw a girl at Hazrat Aisha’s place whose hair was visible. The woman remarked about the girl that it would be better if she covered her hair. Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said that she has not yet reached puberty and her menstruation has not yet begun.

Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to me and there was a girl sitting with me. He gave me a piece of cloth and told me to tear it and give it to this girl and to the girl who was with Umm Salamah. In my opinion, both of them had reached puberty.

Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to me, and a girl ran and hid. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) inquired whether she had reached puberty. He was informed, "Yes, she has reached puberty." He tore a piece of cloth from his turban and gave it to her, saying, "Use this to observe hijab."

Hazrat Umm Salamah states that when a girl reaches puberty, the same level of veiling is obligatory for her as it is for her mother.

Marzooq bin Abdullah says that I asked Hazrat Saeed bin Musayyib, "When does prayer become obligatory upon a girl?" He replied, "When she begins to menstruate."

Ibrahim says that when a girl starts menstruating, hijab becomes as obligatory upon her as it is upon her mother.

Hasan says that when a girl reaches puberty, her prayer will not be valid without a head covering.

Hazrat Mujahid says that when a girl reaches puberty, her prayer will not be valid without a head covering (dupatta).

Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said that when a girl reaches puberty, hijab is as obligatory upon her as it is upon her mother.

It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The prayer of an adult girl is not accepted without a head covering (dupatta).

Hasan says that if a girl, after reaching puberty, does not cover her ears and head, her prayer is not valid.
