Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that we used to perform the Friday prayer with the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) when the sun had passed its zenith.

Hazrat Jabir bin Abdullah narrates that after offering the Friday prayer with the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), we used to return and let our camels rest. Hasan says that I asked Hazrat Ja'far, "What time was this?" He replied, "It was the time of the sun's decline (zawal-e-shams)."

Hazrat Salamah bin Akwa’ narrates that we used to offer the Friday prayer with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) when the sun had declined. Then we would return, walking behind our shadows.

The father of Hazrat Amr bin Marwan narrates that we used to offer Friday prayer with Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) after the decline of the sun.

Hazrat Bilal Absi narrates that Hazrat Ammar led the people in Friday prayer, and there were two different opinions among the people: some said that the sun had declined, while others thought that the sun had not yet declined.

Hazrat Yusuf bin Mahak narrates that when Hazrat Mu'adh came to Makkah, people used to offer Jumu'ah prayer in Hatim. Hazrat Mu'adh said to them: Do not offer the Jumu'ah prayer until the shadow of the Ka'bah returns from its front side.

Hazrat Ibn Aun says that during the time of Hazrat Umar bin Abdul Aziz, people used to offer the Friday prayer when the shadow of things had increased slightly.

Hasan says that the time for Jumu'ah is at the time of the sun's decline.

Hazrat Abu Razin says that we used to perform the Friday prayer with Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him); sometimes we would see the shadow and sometimes we would not see the shadow.

Hazrat Simak narrates that Hazrat Nu'man bin Bashir used to lead us in the Friday prayer after the sun had passed its zenith.

Hazrat Waleed bin Aizar says that I have not seen a better Imam for the Friday prayer than Amr bin Harith; he used to lead the Friday prayer after the sun had declined.

Ibrahim says that the time for the Friday prayer is the same as the time for the Zuhr prayer.
