Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Ibrahim, regarding the person who forgets to perform all the prayers, says that he should offer the earlier prayers first.

Hasan says that if a person forgets to perform prayers, he should offer the prayer that comes first, first. However, if there is a fear that a particular prayer might become qada (missed), then he should offer that one first.

Hazrat Abu Rashid says that I slept through the Zuhr, Asr, Maghrib, and Isha prayers. Then I went to Hazrat Ubaid bin Umair and mentioned this to him, so he said: First offer Zuhr, then Asr, then Maghrib, then Isha.

Hazrat Saeed bin Musayyib, regarding the person who forgot to offer any prayer and remembered it at the time of sunset and had not yet offered the prayer of that time, says that if he fears that if he becomes engaged in the missed prayer, the prayer of this time will be missed, then he should first offer the current prayer.

Hazrat Ata says that the prayer which is earlier should be made up first.

Hazrat Hammad bin Farwah narrates that once I performed istinja and forgot to do wudu. Then I offered the Zuhr, Asr, and Maghrib prayers. Later, I remembered that I had performed these prayers without wudu. I asked Hazrat Ata, Hazrat Mujahid, and Hazrat Saeed bin Jubair about this, and all of them said: Perform wudu and repeat all those prayers, and offer the earlier prayer first.

A freed slave of Hazrat Abu Bakrah narrates that Hazrat Abu Bakrah entered a garden, walked around in it, and began to look at it. In this engagement, he forgot the Asr prayer, until the sun was about to set, then he remembered the prayer. He performed ablution and sat down. When the sun had set, he first offered the Asr prayer and then the Maghrib prayer.

A man named Sa’d narrates that once during the month of Ramadan, I prayed with the people. Then I returned to my family. And at night I slept, then the next day I kept sleeping and then the following night I also remained asleep. Then I went to Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) and related the whole matter to him and asked about the ruling. He said, "Then what did you do?" I said, "I prayed the Zuhr prayer." He said, "You did well. Then what did you do?" I said, "I prayed the Asr prayer." He said, "You did well. Then what did you do?" I said, "I prayed the Maghrib prayer." He said, "You did well. Then what did you do?" I said, "I prayed the Isha prayer." He said, "You did well. Then what did you do?" I said, "Then I prayed Witr." He said, "You should not have prayed Witr." Then he asked, "Then what did you do?" I said, "Then I prayed the Fajr prayer." He said, "You did well."
