Hadith 4590
Yunus narrates that once an imam of the central mosque made a mistake in prayer, but he did not perform the prostration of forgetfulness (sajdah sahw). Some people performed the sajdah sahw and some did not. This issue was presented to Hasan, and he said that in this situation, it is not obligatory for the people to perform the sajdah. When this was mentioned to Ibn Sirin, he considered the action of those who performed the sajdah to be preferable.

Hazrat Wahib bin Ajlan narrates that he saw Hazrat Qasim and Hazrat Salim offering prayer behind an imam. The imam made a mistake (sahu) but did not perform the prostration (sajdah), so both of them also did not perform the prostration.
