Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Ata narrates that Hazrat Ibn Zubair led the prayer and after completing two rak‘ahs, he ended the prayer with salam. Then he went to the Hajar Aswad and performed its istilam. When the people recited tasbih, he returned and performed two prostrations. Ata says that I mentioned this to Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them), so he said: How excellent is Ibn Zubair! He did not deviate from the Sunnah of his Prophet.

Hazrat Abu Ubaidah says that Hazrat Abdullah offered two rak'ahs and ended the prayer with salam, then stood up and completed the prayer and performed two prostrations.

Ibrahim, regarding the person who becomes forgetful in prayer and says salam after performing two rak‘ahs, states that he should continue the prayer and perform two prostrations of forgetfulness.

Hazrat Ibn Asbahani says that Hazrat Ibn Abi Laila led us in prayer and after praying two rak‘ahs, he ended the prayer with salam. We said tasbih, so he stood up and completed the prayer. When he finished the prayer, he performed two prostrations. Ibn Asbahani says that I mentioned this to Hazrat Ikrimah, so he said that this is a very good method.

Hasan says that when someone ends the prayer with salam after two rak‘ahs, he should complete the prayer and perform two prostrations of forgetfulness (sahw).
