Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Zaid bin Aslam narrates that a boy recited a verse of prostration before the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). He waited for the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to perform the prostration. When he did not prostrate, the boy said, "O Messenger of Allah! Is there not a prostration in this surah?" He replied, "There is indeed a prostration in this surah. However, in this matter, you were our leader. If you had prostrated, we would have prostrated as well."

Hazrat Saleem bin Hanzalah says that I recited Surah Bani Isra'il before Hazrat Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him). When I reached the verse of prostration, Hazrat Abdullah said, "Recite it, you are our leader in this."
