Those Who Say That If Recitation Is Forgotten, Salah Must Be Repeated
Hadith 4054
٤٠٥٤ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا إسماعيل بن إبراهيم عن ليث عن مجاهد قال: إذا نسي القراءة فإنه لا يعتد بتلك الركعة.
Hazrat Mujahid says that when a person forgets to recite (Qira'at), he will not count that rak'ah.
Hadith 4055
٤٠٥٥ - حدثنا هشيم قال: (أخبرنا) (١) أبو بشر عن سعيد بن جبير قال: لا صلاة إلا بقراءة.
Hazrat Saeed bin Jubair says that there is no prayer without recitation.
Hadith 4056
٤٠٥٦ - حدثنا أبو معاوية عن الأعمش عن إبراهيم عن همام قال: صلى عمر المغرب فلم يقرأ فيها، فلما انصرف قالوا له: يا أمير المؤمنين إنك لم تقرأ، فقال: إني حدثت نفسي وأنا في الصلاة (بعير وجهتها) (١) من المدينة، فلم أزل أجهزها ⦗٣٨٠⦘ حتى دخلت الشام، قال: ثم أعاد الصلاة والقراءة (٢).
Hazrat Hammam narrates that once Hazrat Umar led the Maghrib prayer and did not recite (Qira’at) in it. When he finished the prayer, the people said to him, "O Commander of the Faithful! You did not recite (Qira’at)." Hazrat Umar replied, "During the prayer, I was thinking in my heart about an army which I had dispatched from Madinah. I was thinking about when it would enter Shaam." Then he repeated the prayer and the recitation.
