Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that when a traveler joins the prayer of residents, he should perform the prayer as they do.

Hazrat Abdullah says that he will offer prayer like his prayer.

Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with both of them) regarding a traveler who joins the prayer of residents and catches one rak'ah, says that he should pray with them and complete whatever remains.

Hazrat Ata and Hazrat Saeed bin Jubair say that when a traveler joins the prayer of residents, he will pray as the residents pray.

Hazrat Ata bin Saib narrates that Hazrat Shabi stayed in Wasit for two years; he used to perform two rak'ahs of prayer, but if he prayed with the people, he would pray as they prayed.

Ibrahim and Yunus say that whoever prays as he prayed, his prayer will be accepted.

Hazrat Mak'hool, regarding the traveler who joins the prayer of residents and catches one or two rak'ahs, states that he will pray as they pray.

Hazrat Ibn Aun says that I came to Madinah and caught one rak'ah of the 'Isha prayer. I began to wonder in my heart, what should I do now? Later, I asked Hazrat Qasim about this matter, and he said, "Did you fear that if you prayed four rak'ahs, Allah Almighty would punish you?!"

Hazrat Ata says that if you catch even one rak‘ah of the prayer with the residents, then perform the prayer as they do.

Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with both of them) regarding a traveler who joins the prayer of residents, says that he will pray as they pray.

Hazrat Mukhtar bin Amr Azdi narrates that I asked Hazrat Jabir bin Zaid about the prayer during travel. He replied: When you pray alone, perform two rak‘ahs, and when you pray with a congregation, pray according to their prayer.
