Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Zaid bin Thabit narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recited Surah Al-A'raf in the two rak'ahs of Maghrib.

Hazrat Urwah narrates that Hazrat Abu Bakr recited Surah Al-Baqarah in the two rak'ahs of Fajr prayer.

Hazrat Yahya bin Abdur Rahman bin Hatib narrates that Hazrat Umar recited Surah Aal-e-Imran in the first two rak'ahs of Isha prayer.

Hazrat Umar bin Ya'la (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that Hazrat Saeed bin Jubair recited Surah Bani Isra'il in both rak'ahs of Fajr.

Hazrat Amr bin Murrah says that I offered the Fajr prayer behind Hazrat Saeed bin Jubair. In the first rak'ah, he began reciting Surah Ha-Meem Al-Mu'min. When he reached { بِالْعَشِیِّ وَالإِبْکَارِ }, he performed ruku, then in the second rak'ah he recited the remainder of the surah, then performed ruku, and did not recite the Du'a Qunoot in Fajr.

Hazrat A'mash says that Yahya used to divide one surah between the two rak'ahs of Fajr.

Hazrat Nafi' narrates that Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) used to divide one surah between two rak'ahs.

Hazrat Aamir says that there is no harm in dividing one Surah between two rak‘ahs.

Hazrat A'mash says that Yahya used to divide a surah between the two rak'ahs of Fajr.

Hazrat Ata says that there is no harm in dividing one surah between two rak'ahs.
