Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Yahya bin Abbad narrates that Hazrat Khabbab bin Aratt used to recite aloud in Zuhr and Asr prayers.

Hazrat Kilab bin Amr narrates from his uncle that I learned Surah Az-Zalzalah behind Hazrat Khabbab in the Asr prayer.

Hazrat Sha’bi narrates that Hazrat Sa’eed bin ‘Aas led the people in the Zuhr or Asr prayer and recited aloud in it. The people behind him began to say tasbeeh. Hazrat Sa’eed continued his recitation, and when he finished, he ascended the pulpit and said, “There is recitation in every prayer, and the daytime prayers are silent, meaning the recitation in them is done quietly. I dislike remaining silent. So do not think that I have committed any act of innovation.”

Hazrat Muhammad bin Muzahim says that I have offered prayer behind Hazrat Saeed bin Jubair; in Zuhr and Asr, the people in the first row used to understand his recitation.

Hazrat Humaid says that I offered the Zuhr prayer behind Hazrat Anas, in which he recited Surah Al-A'la. He used to recite one verse to us.

Hazrat Abu Usman says that I heard Surah Qaf being recited in a low voice behind Hazrat Umar in the Zuhr prayer.

Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Aswad narrates that Hazrat Aswad and Hazrat Alqamah used to recite aloud in Zuhr and Asr prayers, but they did not perform Sajdah Sahw.

Jabir reports that I asked Shu’bi, Hakam, Salim, Qasim, Mujahid, and Ata regarding a person who recites aloud in Zuhr and Asr prayers; what is the ruling about this? They replied that there is no prostration of forgetfulness (sajda sahw) upon him.

Hazrat Qatadah narrates that Hazrat Anas recited aloud in Zuhr and Asr prayers, and then did not perform the prostration of forgetfulness (sajda sahw).
