Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Asim bin Shumaykh narrates that I saw Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri performing prayer while leaning on a staff.

Hazrat Ibn Abi Najeeh narrates from his father that a person told him that he saw Hazrat Abu Dharr performing prayer while leaning on a staff.

Hazrat Ata says that the Companions used to lean on a staff during prayer. Yazid has added that this was when they stood straight.

Ibrahim narrates that a wooden pole was placed in the mosque for Hazrat Amr bin Maymoon; when he found it difficult to stand in prayer or felt tired, he would lean on that wooden pole for support.

Hazrat Ismail bin Abi Khalid says that I saw Hazrat Murrah leading people in prayer. I saw that a piece of wood was placed in the niche for him, which he used for support when standing up.

Hazrat Iraq bin Malik narrates that I saw people in the month of Ramadan for whom ropes were tied, and due to the long standing (in prayer), they used to hold on to them.

Hazrat Aban bin Abdullah Bajali says that I saw Hazrat Abu Bakr bin Abi Musa leaning on a staff while performing prayer.
