Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that Hazrat Umar saw a man who had a single cloth and was wrapping it around his body while performing prayer. He said: "Do not imitate the Jews. Whoever has only one cloth should tie it as an izar (lower garment)."

Hazrat Abdullah bin Muhammad bin Aqeel narrates that I saw Hazrat Jabir offering prayer in such a way that he had tied a cloth around himself as an izar (lower garment).

Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Abi Na'am narrates that Hazrat Abu Sa'id was asked about performing prayer in a single garment, so he said: Tie it as an izar (lower garment) in the manner that an izar is tied for a boat.

Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) says that if I have a piece of cloth, then to me, using it as an izar (lower garment) is more preferable than wearing it by taking it out from under the armpit and placing it on the shoulder like the Jews.

Muhammad says that when a person has only one garment for prayer, he should tie it as an izar (lower garment).

Hazrat Nafi bin Umar narrates that Hazrat Abdullah bin Abi Mulaika led us in prayer wearing a single garment in such a way that he had raised it up to his chest.

Hazrat Ibn Abi Mulaika narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed at the place of Arj in a single garment which he had raised up to his chest.

Hazrat Abdullah bin Waqid narrates that I performed prayer with Hazrat Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) in a single garment, which I had draped over my shoulders. He said, "Tie it as an izar (lower garment)."
