Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Abu Huraira narrates that my beloved friend (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade me from sitting in the manner of a monkey.

Hazrat Harith narrates that Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) considered it undesirable in prayer to sit on the hips by joining the shins and thighs together, and he used to say that this is the manner of Satan.

Hazrat Harith narrates that Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) considered it disliked in prayer to sit on the hips by joining the shins and thighs together.

Hazrat Saeed bin Musayyib says that I performed prayer with Hazrat Abu Hurairah. I sat on the front part of my feet, so he pulled me until I sat calmly.

Ibrahim considered it disliked in prayer to sit on the hips by joining the shins and thighs, and also considered it disliked for the worshipper to place his right hip on his right foot in such a way that it stands and the toes face the Qiblah, and also to rest the left hip on the ground and stretch the left foot out to the right side.

Hasan and Muhammad considered it undesirable to sit on the hips by joining the shins and thighs together.

Hazrat Jabir narrates that Hazrat Amir considered it undesirable to sit on the hips by joining the shins and thighs together between the two prostrations.

Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade sitting on the buttocks in prayer by joining the shins and thighs together.

Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with both of them) says that the Sunnah in prayer is that you should place your buttocks towards the ground behind you.
