Those who consider prostrating on a pillow by a sick person to be disliked
Hadith 2834
٢٨٣٤ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: نا ابن (عيينة) (١) عن عمرو عن عطاء عاد ابن (عمر) (٢) صفوان فوجده يسجد على وسادة فنهاه، وقال: أومئ إيماء (٣).
Hazrat Ata narrates that Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) visited Hazrat Safwan during his illness and saw that he was prostrating on a pillow. Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) forbade him from doing so and said that he should only gesture.
Hadith 2835
٢٨٣٥ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: نا الثقفي عن (أيوب) (١) عن محمد قال: السجود على الوسادة محدث.
Muhammad says that prostrating on a pillow is an innovation (bid'ah).
Hadith 2836
٢٨٣٦ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: نا ابن فضيل عن داود بن أبي هند عن أبي حرب ابن أبي الأسود قال: اشتكى أبو الأسود الفالج فكان لا يسجد إلا ما (رفعنا) (١) له مرفقة يسجد عليها، فسألنا عن ذلك (فأرسلنا) (٢) إلى ابن عمر فقال: إن استطاع أن يسجد على الأرض وإلا (فيومئ) (٣) إيماءً (٤).
Hazrat Abu Harb bin Abi Al-Aswad says that Abu Al-Aswad was afflicted with paralysis, and he used to prostrate on a cushion which we would raise towards him. Regarding this, we asked Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) and he said that if a person has the ability to prostrate on the ground, then that is fine; otherwise, he should suffice with just indicating (the prostration).
