Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Muhammad says that the predecessors liked that when a person performed prostration, he should place his hands in this manner. Saying this, the narrator Azhar joined the fingers of his hand and demonstrated.

Ibrahim says that when you perform prostration, do not join your palms together and keep your fingers spread apart.

Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Qasim says that I prayed with Hazrat Hafs bin Asim. When I went into prostration, I spread my fingers apart and turned my palms away from the Qiblah. When I finished the prayer, he said, "O nephew! When you prostrate, keep your fingers together and keep your hands facing the Qiblah, because along with the face, the hands also prostrate."

Hazrat Sufyan says that a person should keep the fingers open in bowing (ruku) and joined together in prostration (sajdah).
