Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that I saw the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to raise his hands when beginning the prayer, and he also used to raise his hands when going into bowing (ruku), and when rising from bowing. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not raise his hands between the two prostrations.

Hazrat Wa'il bin Hujr narrates that I saw the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) whenever he would go into bowing (ruku') and when he would rise from bowing, he used to raise his hands.

) Hazrat Malik bin Huwairith narrates that I saw the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) raising his hands up to the level of his earlobes while going into ruku and while rising from ruku.

Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that when the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) began the prayer, while going into bowing (ruku‘), and when rising from bowing, he would raise his hands such that they would not go above his ears.

Hazrat Sulaiman bin Yasar has also narrated likewise.

Hazrat Ata says that I saw Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri, Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them), Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them), and Hazrat Ibn Zubair raising their hands.

Hazrat Abu Hamza says that I saw Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) raising his hands at the beginning of the prayer, while going into bowing (ruku), and when rising from bowing.

Hasan narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to raise his hands like wings while going into bowing (ruku) and when rising from bowing during prayer.

Hazrat Humaid says that I saw Hazrat Anas raising his hands at the beginning of the prayer, while going into bowing (ruku), and when rising from bowing.

Hazrat Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to raise his hands while going into bowing (ruku) and prostration (sajdah).

Hazrat Ash'ath says that Hasan used to do the same.

Ibn Aun says that Muhammad used to raise his hands when starting the prayer, when going into bowing, and when rising from bowing.

Hazrat Khalid narrates that Hazrat Abu Qilabah used to raise his hands while going into ruku and when rising from ruku.

Hazrat Muhammad bin Amr bin Ata says that I saw Hazrat Abu Humaid Sa’idi with ten companions of the Messenger (peace be upon him). He said, "Shall I not describe to you the way the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) performed prayer?" They said, "Certainly, do so." He said, "I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) that when he began the prayer with the opening takbeer, he raised his hands; when he went into ruku, he raised his hands; when he lifted his head from ruku, he raised his hands. Then he stood for such a duration that every bone returned to its place, then he would go down for prostration saying the takbeer."

Hazrat Muharib bin Dithar narrates that I saw Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) raising his hands while going into ruku and sujood. I asked him the reason for this, so he replied that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to raise his hands even when standing up after two rak'ahs.
