Satan Flees Upon Hearing the Adhan
Hadith 2394
٢٣٩٤ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: نا أبو معاوية عن الأعمش عن أبي سفيان عن جابر قال: قال النبي ﷺ: "إِذَا نَادى المُؤذِّنُ (بالأَذَانِ) (١) هَرَبَ الشَّيْطَانُ حَتَّى يَكُونَ بالرَّوْحاَء، وَهْي ثلَاثوَن مِيلا مِنَ المدِينَةِ" (٢).
It is narrated from Hazrat Jabir that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: When the sound of the call to prayer (adhan) is heard, Satan runs away until he reaches the place of Rauha. Rauha is at a distance of thirty miles from Madinah.
Hadith 2395
٢٣٩٥ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: نا محمد بن مصعب عن الأوزاعي عن يحيى عن أبي سلمة عن أبي هريرة قال: قال النبي ﷺ: "إذا نَادَى المُؤَذّنُ بالصَّلاةِ أدبَرَ الشَّيْطَانُ وَلَهُ ضُرَاطٌ، (وَإذا) (١) قَضَى أَمْسَكَ، فَإذا ثَوّبَ بهِا أَدْبَرَ" (٢).
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: When the muezzin calls the adhan for prayer, Satan turns away and flees in such a manner that even his wind passes out. When the adhan is completed, he returns, and when the iqamah is pronounced, he flees again. (41) The excellence in the call to prayer.
