Adhan Should Be Slow and Iqamah Fast
Hadith 2254
٢٢٥٤ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا مرحوم بن عبد العزيز عن أبيه عن أبي الزبير مؤذن بيت المقدس قال: جاءنا عمر بن الخطاب فقال: إذا أذنت فترسل، وإذا أقمت (فاحذم) (١) (٢).
The muezzin of Bayt al-Maqdis, Hazrat Abu Zubair, states that Hazrat Umar came to us and said: When you give the adhan, recite it slowly and deliberately, and when you give the iqamah, recite it quickly.
Hadith 2255
٢٢٥٥ - حدثنا شريك عن عثمان عن أبي جعفر: أن ابن عمر كان (يرتل) (١) الأذان، ويحدر (٢) الإقامة (٣).
Hazrat Abu Ja'far narrates that Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) used to pronounce the adhan with pauses and the iqamah quickly.
Hadith 2256
٢٢٥٦ - حدثنا أبو أسامة وعبد الوهاب بن عطاء عن هشام عن الحسن ومحمد (قال) (١): كان يعجبهما إذا أخذ المؤذن في الإقامة أن يمضي ولا يترسل.
Muhammad and Hasan liked that the muezzin should say the iqamah quickly, not slowly.
Hadith 2257
٢٢٥٧ - حدثنا وكيع عن مسعر عن (أبي بكر بن) (١) حفص عن ابن عمر: أنه كان (يحذف) (٢) الإقامة (٣).
Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) used to recite the Iqamah quickly.
Hadith 2258
٢٢٥٨ - حدثنا مالك قال: نا (جعفر) (١) الأحمر عن (مغيرة) (٢) عن إبراهيم قال: يرتل (٣) الأذان ولتبع الإقامة بعضها (ببعض) (٤).
Ibrahim used to pronounce the adhan slowly and the iqamah quickly.
