What Should a Sick Person Do if Unable to Perform Wudu?
Hadith 2135
٢١٣٥ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: نا عمر بن أيوب الموصلي عن ابن أبي ذئب عن الزهري: في المريض لا يستطيع أن يتوضأ قال: يتيمم.
Hazrat Zuhri says that if a sick person does not have the strength to perform ablution, he should perform tayammum.
Hadith 2136
٢١٣٦ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا أبو أسامة قال: حدثنا جرير بن حازم عن قيس بن سعد عن سعيد بن جبير ومجاهد قالا في المريض تصيبه الجنابة، فيخاف على نفسه، قال: هو بمنزلة المسافر الذي لا يجد الماء، يتيمم، وسألت عطاء فقال: لا بد من الماء ويسخن له.
Hazrat Saeed bin Jubair and Hazrat Mujahid, regarding the sick person who becomes junub and fears harm from bathing, state that he is in the same position as a traveler who does not find water and should perform tayammum. Hazrat Qais says that he asked Hazrat Ata about this, and he replied that the use of water is necessary, even if it is used after heating.
