Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Hafs narrates that some people asked Hazrat Sha’bi about the method of wiping over the socks, so he demonstrated by passing his hands downwards.

Ibrahim was asked about the method of wiping over the socks, so he passed his hand over the top of the fingers to demonstrate.

Hazrat Sha'bi says that one should wipe from the upper part of the foot towards the edges of the toes.

Hazrat Sha'bi says that one should perform masah (wiping) over the socks in this way, then he demonstrated by moving his hands from the upper part of the feet towards the tips of the toes.

Hasan says that wiping (masah) over the socks will be done by drawing lines with the fingers.

Hazrat Saeed bin Abdul Aziz narrates that I asked Hazrat Zuhri about the method of masah (wiping), so he said that the hands should be passed from the front part of the feet towards the upper part.
