Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

It is narrated from Hazrat Zaid bin Khalid that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Whoever touches his private part should perform ablution.

It is narrated from Hazrat Umm Habibah that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Whoever touches his private part should perform ablution.

Hazrat Urwah bin Zubair narrates that my father related to me that Marwan discussed with me the issue of touching the private part. I said that there is no (need for) ablution in this matter. He said that Busrah bint Safwan has narrated a hadith about this. Then he sent a messenger to Busrah, who came back and reported that she states that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever touches his private part with his hand should perform ablution.

Hazrat Ibn Sirin says that I asked Hazrat Ubaidah about the saying of Allah Almighty { أَوْ لاَمَسْتُمُ النِّسَائَ }, so he gestured with his hand, and I understood what he wanted to say, so I did not ask him further. He said that I have been informed that Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) used to perform ablution when he touched the private part. Muhammad says that I think the statement of Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) and Hazrat Ubaidah is the same.

Hazrat Jabir bin Zaid says that when a person deliberately touches the private part, he should repeat the ablution.

Hazrat Mak'hool says that when a person deliberately touches the private part, he should perform ablution.

Ata and Mujahid (may Allah have mercy on them) said: Whoever touches his private part should perform ablution.

Hazrat Saeed bin Musayyib says that whoever touches the private part, ablution becomes obligatory upon him.

Hazrat Mus'ab bin Sa'd narrates that if, while reciting the Qur'an in front of my father, I touched my private part, he would order me to perform ablution.

Hazrat Nafi' narrates that one day Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) performed the missed Fajr prayer at the time of Duha and said: "I had touched my private part (before Fajr), but I forgot (so I performed the Fajr prayer without ablution, therefore I am now repeating it)."

Hazrat Nafi' narrates that Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) used to perform ablution again after touching the private part.

Hazrat Ata and Hazrat Mujahid say that whoever touches the private part should perform ablution.

Hazrat Zuhri says that whoever touches the private part should perform ablution.

Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) and Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) say that whoever touches the private part should perform ablution.

Hazrat Tawus was asked: If a man is in prayer and touches his private part, what is the ruling? He replied: Uff! Uff! Why does he touch it? Such a person should perform ablution.
