Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Asma states that the Messenger of Allah was asked: If menstrual blood gets on a woman's clothes, what should she do? He replied: She should scrape it off with water, wash it, and then pray in the same garment.

Hazrat Adi bin Hatim narrates that Umm Hissain asked the Messenger of Allah what should be done if menstrual blood gets on a garment? He replied: Scrape it off, then wash it with water and lotus leaves, then pray in the same garment.

A woman asked Hazrat Umm Salamah whether a menstruating woman could pray in the clothes she wore during her period after attaining purity. She replied: If there is blood on them, wash it off; otherwise, pray in them as they are.

Hazrat Nafi' narrates that the wives of Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) and his umm walad slave-women would not wash those clothes which they had worn during menstruation after becoming pure. Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) would say to them: If you see blood on them, then wash them.

Hazrat Hammad asked Ibrahim about menstrual blood on clothes, so he replied that Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said that it is sufficient for women to wash it with water.

Hazrat Mak'hool says that if a woman does not wash the clothes she wore during her menstruation, there is no harm in it; however, if there is blood on them, then she should wash it.

Ibrahim says that if a menstruating woman does not see any trace of blood on the clothes she wore during menstruation, then after becoming pure she may pray in those same clothes.

A man asked Hazrat Ata that if a menstruating woman, after becoming pure, sees a blood stain on her clothes, is it sufficient for her to wash the blood and leave the rest of the clothes? He replied, "It is sufficient."

Hazrat Saeed bin Jubair was asked: If menstrual blood gets on clothes, what should be done? He replied: The woman should wash it and apply wars, saffron, or amber to that spot.

Ibrahim says that if menstrual blood gets on a woman's clothes, she should wash it; sprinkling water is not sufficient.

Hazrat Mu'adh narrates that a woman asked Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) about sprinkling water on blood stains on clothes, so she replied: Wash it with water because it will be purified with water.

Hazrat Jabir bin Zaid was asked that if menstrual blood gets on clothes and after washing it, the stain of the blood remains, can she pray in those clothes? He replied, she can pray.

Hazrat Rabi’ says that I asked Hasan whether a woman can pray in the clothes she wore during menstruation. He replied that there is no harm in it, but if something is stained on them, she should wash it.

Hazrat Mujahid says that a woman can pray in the clothes she wore during menstruation, but if there is blood on them, she should wash it.
